We examine the Baha'i Texts on the matter which will hopefully dispel some myths and re-frame the perspective on science and what it means to be "human". The Bahai Faith, as seen in the writings of Baha'u'llah, seem to handle Islam with kid gloves. Actually, the Prophet Mani, founder of Manichaeism was very popular in the second and third centuries. Mani claimed to be a Prophet of Jesus. He was Gnostic, and his theology was a blend of Christianity and Zoroastrianism. He claimed to be the Seal of the Prophets and the Last Prophet in the 2nd and 3rd century. There is strong evidence of the influence of Zoroastrianism in the Jewish religion, essentially after their return from Babylonian captivity and release by King Cyrus and the Persians. In Persia, Zoroaster was the prominent religion and there were also Buddhist influences which made their way into 2nd temple Jewish scripture. Mani was very popular in Persia, and his followers spread all the way into India and China. Mani claimed to be the "Seal of the Prophets" and the "Last Prophet". As Rome decided to make Christianity its state religion, they created certain creeds and definitions of God, and canonized the Bible. They gathered all the texts currently in circulation and filtered out the stories and texts that did not fit their narrative for the new state religion. We can see what they filtered out by the Nag Hammadi cache, found in the mid 1900s. At the time, there were four primary streams of Christianity, the Marcian, the Apostolic, the Pauline, and the Gnostic. They shut down the Marcian steams, that completely disassociated from Judaism. They shut down the Apostolic stream, which based on the followers of Jesus, leaned heavily toward keeping the Mosaic law and Jewish custom while becoming Christian. They shut down the Gnostic stream, which was more metaphysical and open to interpretation. They kept the Pauline stream, which was based on Paul's teachings and the idea that the laws of the Jews such as Circumcision, the Sabbath, strict dietary restrictions, and genetic lineage were not necessary for Christians. Christianity was for the Gentiles. Though Paul cited "prophet" as a legitimate role in the Christian community, there were no more prophets after the Romans took over. At the same time, political affiliations in Persia shut down Manichaeism in favor of Zoroastrianism. The Arab community felt as though they had been shut out of the picture. They did not believe in the definition of the Triune God, and did not believe Jesus to be a God, or God's son, like the Romans had claimed their Caesars to be. They did not like the icons of Jesus or the statues and frescos of his image. The Arabs believed that the Jews had violated God's law and that Jesus came to correct them. They claimed that the Romans had corrupted the teachings of God and manipulated the teachings of Jesus. In 632 Muhammad and Islam arose and the Koran was eventually written by those who knew Muhammad. Muhammad could not write. They gave Muhammad the monikers of :"the Last Prophet" and "the Seal of the Prophets". The problem is that the scriptures of the Jews, Christians, and Muslims are full of state propaganda, fabricated history, fables, folk lore, and fairy tales. They are hopelessly pitted one against another. Trying to weave these together in a coherent body of work is ridiculous. Trying to find God's "fingerprints" in these texts is also ridiculous. All three religions cloak themselves in pseudo holiness, and it becomes cheesy quickly. The administrative bodies of these religions are on the payroll, and they won't want to budge an inch. The only way to reconfigure these three religions into the framework of the Bahai Faith will necessarily require the literary disassembly of all three scriptures. While all three write about God, who and what they believe God to be, they are blinded by their own ignorance and their belief in the oldest Jewish scriptures and the fact that these stories are not entirely factual, but created by men to explain things that they didn't understand. The Torah was a contrived back story of Abram and the Jewish people who needed a claim to their land, and explained it by their story of God promising it to them. It was updated and recorded after the Jews returned from Babylon, and again as it became more formalized. You can't say that Jews, Christians, and Muslims are all "right" and then ask them to come to peace under Baha'u'llah. You have to demonstrate that all three are in error. All religions were recorded by men. God may have poured out the spirit upon them in revelation, but what they recorded were greatly influenced by their own predispositions, understandings, and the cultures they lived in.

    Nice try but if God wanted to send prophets after Muhammad then He would not explicitly state that He has chosen Islam for mankind.

    • @Scott_works
      @Scott_works 2 місяці тому

      Who stated that? Was it really God, or whomever was recording what Muhammad said, because Muhammad couldn't write it. Rather than say that God stated it, or God revealed the Koran, how about "The followers of Muhammad claim that Islam was chosen for mankind." That is a more accurate statement.

    Thank you for the obvious dedication and joy that you have shown during this series of talks. During my 50 some years as a Baha'i I have been quite often and ongoingly made aware that my previous "understanding" of certain elements of Baha'u'llah's Revelation have been incomplete and evolving. I strongly encourage those who happen upon this series to enjoy to the fullest. I certainly found new understanding of the Faith I have embraced. But, also understand that we will never "master" our study of the Divine, and as you have encouraged in this video, I encourage others to revisit the manifold texts of the Baha'i Revelation, in addition to listening to this offering.

    IMO, there is no Bahá’í take on evolution. As clarified in the introduction to the revised version of _Some Answered Questions,_ there is no support for the pseudoscientific concept of parallel evolution-essentially a form of creationism. The harmony of science and religion does not mean that the Bahá’í Faith has authority over the sciences.

    Thanks for your comprehensive viewpoints regarding the subject in view. This is only within the Revelation of Baha'u'llah that we can see beauty in details, since our thoughts as a Baha'i are not practiced in a one dimentional relativism mode, to find who is right and who is wrong, in His dispensation, rather multi-dimentional and based on our perceiving reasoning point of view and pending on our individualistic intuition. Thus enriching the Baha'i culture deeper and firmer in forming a New Era's universal civilization founded on "Unity in diversity", rather than "Unity in Singularity and Unifirmity".

    I loved the Faith. Finding out about the way LGBTQ people are treated caused me to leave. I was sharing my passion for the Faith with my best friend. I looked into his face and realized he would never be fully welcome somewhere that I loved with all my heart. I came back 30 years later, only to find it is still just as unwelcoming. I have to wonder about world peace when 10% of the population isn't allowed to hold office or publicly be in a relationship. I also want to share their views on women serving on their top governing body. In a Tablet to an early woman believer 'Abdu’l-Bahá stated: 'O maidservant of God! Know thou that in the sight of God, the conduct of women is the same as that of men… From the spiritual point of view… there is no difference between women and men…' He added, however: 'As to the House of Justice: according to the explicit text of the Law of God, its membership is exclusively reserved to men. There is divine wisdom in this which will presently be made manifest even as the mid-day sun.' bahai-library.com/chupin_women_in_uhj

    Re: Matthew 24: 23-26 I think a good case can be made that this exhortation by Jesus could be timeframe dependant similar to how Baha'u'llah stated that ""Whoso layeth claim to a Revelation direct from God, ere the expiration of a full thousand years, such a man is assuredly a lying impostor." In Matthew 24: 34 Jesus said, "Truly I tell you, this generation will certainly not pass away until all these things have happened. 35 Heaven and earth will pass away, but my words will never pass away." So it seems to me this strong teaching to ignore any other claims of Prophecy ended when Titus desicrated and destroyed the 2nd Temple. I'm curious if anyone else sees the same in these verses.

    I believe Latin is the best option among natural languages to be used as an international auxiliary language. For constructed languages, Esperanto and Lojban could be considered, but I think Latin is much more well established. On the criteria in the video, Latin meets all the requirements except for the one about grammatical gender, but in Latin the gender doesn't really apply the biological gender concept onto all nouns, but rather are a way of dividing word forms into three types (masculine, feminine, and neutral) which words for things that actually are gendered happen to align with. Latin has perfectly consistent and phonetic spelling and pronunciation. The Latin script has already become widespread and used around the world. Latin has incorporated vocabulary from many other languages and standardized their Latinized forms, both from its dominance in Europe, Middle East, and northern Africa in antiquity, but also by its use beyond those regions since the Middle Ages and Renaissance eras. Latin might've begun as the language of one nation or region in the Mediterranean, but it has transcended that and now is ethnically and culturally neutral. Latin is also the dominant language in science, medicine, law, and was historically used as an international language, so there is that precedent.

    Thank you so much for your work! I am a new Baha’i in the US and have been wanting to understanding the writings on a grander philosophical level, especially within cosmology and ontology, (which within the Baha’i perspective appear to be very related). In my opinion, many Bahai’s have yet to understand how important and crucial these philosophical learnings are because they actually form a crucial “backbone” of the Baha’I faith learnings. My only suggestion is that you should hesitate at no instant to refer to God as “He”. God is definitely a “He”, as spoken of in the Writings for certain reason. I do not think the Prophets did that for merely cultural reasons. Please do not give in to western illusions around God being “genderless”. They neglect the obvious reality that God is most evidently not an anthropomorphic type of Reality, but a divine Realitiy. God has “blessed” humankind with men and women, suggesting there is a divine significance to their bodies as they exist in this material world. This is in no way mere semantics and I will try to form an argument for why God must be referred to as “He” below: The fact that God has blessed humanity with the predestinated stations of “man” and “woman”, suggests that they consist of their own divine capabilities. How could “manhood” be related to God? Well let’s look at the male body interactions, versus female body interactions. I am trying to be least grotesque, but simply put, the “man” is one who is actually the giver and creator of life as the “woman” is she who waits to receive that which shall take the seed to grow further life. God “seeds” human civilization new life as mother earth, waits to receive it. It is then the responsibility of mother earth, to take what has been seeded from God and His Manifestations, in order for it to grow. You could think of “mother earth” in relation to “father God”, as “the Churches” or “human society”, that waits to receive the Holy Spirit. Don’t you see? God is a He and could not be anything else! I am sure you could come up with your own arguments for this, when you understand the essence of my comment. To suggest God is “woman”, is to say that mankind “seeds life”, within God, when that can’t be the case at all! God is also Singular and One, so how could He, also be She simultaneously?! Edit: To be clear though, 99% of what you are saying helps me so much with my own enlightenment, so thank you very much! These videos are so helpful.

    The problem now has become the fact that the Left has made it that if , for example, you do not believe there is "systemic racism", or in "Drag Queen Story Hour", then you automatically are a "Right-Winger", or a Conservative-just because you differ, or are" PRO-LIFE"..so these things which a civilized society needs to survive are being vilified, and are forcing all to choose a side!!! It is a very big problem right now. The Globalists are very cleverly using this technique to dominate, take away people's RIGHT TO NOT CHOOSE SIDES.

    I am here, St. Augustine. I merely want to say that I am the St. Augustine who lived after the death of Jesus and was well acquainted with his teachings as they were preserved by the Church. At that time I never knew exactly what became of the manuscripts that were in existence when I lived, but the ones that are supposed to furnish the origin of many of the Biblical writings were not the ones that I was acquainted with. Those that I used were all written in Greek and were written by the disciples of Jesus, and by those of his followers to whom the disciples had communicated the teachings of the Master; and they were the genuine ones and were written from the actual communications of the disciples. Of course, the teachings of Jesus were never recorded at the time of his teachings, but were merely the recollections possessed by the disciples of what they thought he really said, and consequently, as you may realize, they were imperfect and could not be relied on implicitly. I know that great controversies have arisen in the church as to what portions of these writings should be accepted as genuine, and many needless disputes have caused the officials of that church to differ as to what were really the writings of the disciples, and what were not. I when on earth joined in these disputes, and maintained that certain of these writings were genuine and certain were not, but I was as likely to be mistaken as any of the others. But even the ones that I thought genuine were more or less flavored by the spiritual knowledge and beliefs of those who wrote them. So I tell you that you cannot depend on these writings as a whole to learn what the Master actually did teach. He is now in condition to give you the genuine truths, and whenever what he may say conflicts with what is contained in the Bible, you must consider what he now writes as the truth and discard the Bible account as unreliable.I tell you this, because I am interested in having the world learn the truths which he came on earth to declare. I am a spirit of the Celestial Spheres and am a follower of the Master, and am trying to help in having these truths come to the world again.I did not always believe, as I do now, in many particulars and my comments on the Bible should not always be taken as correct. So if you will pardon my intrusion I will repeat, pay attention to what Jesus may say now, and do not let the Bible statements, which do not agree with what he may write you, disturb you or cause you to doubt what you may receive. Sometime I shall come and give you my ideas of some of these spiritual truths, and how necessary it is that men should know them. I certainly believe in the New Birth, and I want most emphatically to say that it is one of the most important truths of the spiritual world: It has not heretofore been very often understood, and its exact meaning is somewhat in doubt by even the best students of the Bible. I will not write more tonight, but will say that you are my brother in the good work of showing to mankind the truths that are so important to their future happiness and salvation. So with a love that is in Christ, I am your brother St. Augustine. Received 8/7/1915, new-birth.net. Part of Jesus' Second Coming Messages to the World Series, 1914-Present.
